Battle of Aliwal, 1846

In September 2009, some of our members, dressed in the uniform of the 16th Lancers of 1846, had the privilege of taking part with the 17th Lancers, in The Queen's Royal Lancers' 250th anniversary event at Catterick Garrison.

In 2010, the public will be able to see these scarlet uniforms for the first time in our shows. People will be able to experience the 16th Lancers as they were, when they won their greatest battle honour of all; Aliwal. 

We can offer this as a standalone display, or as part of our WW1 show, to illustrate the development of uniforms and equipment over a period in history that saw the industrial revolution, the introduction of mass production and a change in the way wars were fought.
